Instant Coconut Modak | Nariyal Modak Recipe
Instant Coconut modak makes use of desiccated coconut, mawa (milk solids), milk powder and sweetened milk. No filling is needed in this at all.

- 1 cup Desiccated Coconut
- 4 tbsp Condensed Milk
- 4 tbsp Milk Powder
- 4 tbsp Mawa (milk solids) use homemade or store bought
- 2 tbsp Sugar powdered
- ½ tsp cardamom powder
- Ghee for applying on modak mould
Preparing the modak mixture
Firstly, in a pan take desiccated and roast it on slow flame for a minute.
To this add milk powder. Mix well till the milk powder is incorporated uniformly into the coconut mixture. Work on low to medium flame.
Thirdly, add mawa to the coconut mixture. Mix till the mawa gets incorporated well.
Now add condensed milk gradually. Mix properly. The condensed milk binds the coconut mixture.
Put off flame and add cardamom powder to the mixture.
Let this coconut mixture become cool.
Now add sugar powder and gently mix so that sugar is incorporated well.
Cover and set aside for five minutes.
Shaping the modak
Grease modak mould.
Take small portions of mixture and place it in the mould.
Secure the mould with the lock in order to shape the modak.
Thereafter open the mould and gently take out the modak from it.
Make more modaks from the entire mixture.
- You can use home-made, or store bought mawa.
- Work on low to medium flame. Keep a constant watch. The coconut must not change color.
- Use good quality desiccated coconut.
