What is Fruit Custard
Fruit Custard is basically a creamy sauce into which pieces of seasonal fruits are incorporated. Fruit Custard can be made vegan by using almond milk. If you run out of custard powder , you can use cornflour and vanilla essence. Fruit Custard is quick and foolproof dessert that people of all age groups are bound to enjoy.

Ingredients:
Full fat milk
Custard powder
Sugar
Saffron – a few strands for flavor and color
Fruits – Apple, black grapes, chopped dates, pomegranate arils
Nuts and raisins – for garnish
How to make Fruit Custard
with step by step instructions
In ¼ cup milk dissolve 2 tbsp custard powder.
Add sugar to 2 cups milk and bring to near-boil. Reduce flame.
Slowly add the milk- custard powder slurry to the milk. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
Custard milk will start to thicken slightly.
Add saffron and stir. Turn off the flame.
Chill in the refrigerator.
In the mean while peel, core and chop the apple.
Once the custard has chilled, add the grapes, dates, almonds, pistachios, apple, pomegranate seeds and tutti frutti.
Mix well.
Chill and garnish with some more nuts.
Enjoy the chilled custard dessert with your family and friends.
Tips for Perfect Fruit Custard
If custard is too thick, warm up some milk and add 1 tablespoon at a time, whisking continuously until it comes to desired consistency.
During its thickening stage, stir the custard continuously to avoid formation of lumps.

Ingredients
- 2.25 cups milk 1/4 cup milk for dissolving custard powder
- 2 tbsp custard powder
- 3 tbsp sugar adjust to taste
- 1/2 cup apple chopped
- 1/2 cup black grapes
- 4-5 chopped dates
- 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
- 1 tbsp raisins
- 1 tbsp almonds chopped
- 1 tbsp pistachios chopped
- 1-2 tbsp tutti frutti optional
- A few strands of saffron
Instructions
- In ¼ cup milk dissolve 2 tbsp custard powder.
- Pour 2 cups water in a pan and keep it to heat.
- Add sugar to this milk and bring to near-boil. Reduce flame.
- Slowly add the milk- custard powder slurry to the milk. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
- Custard milk will start to thicken slightly.
- Add saffron and stir. Turn off the flame.
- Add the raisins.
- Keep aside to cool.
- Chill in the refrigerator.
- In the mean while peel, core and chop the apple.
- Once the custard has chilled, add the grapes, dates, almonds, pistachios, apple, pomegranate seeds and tutti frutti.
- Mix well.
- Chill and garnish with some more nuts.
- Enjoy the chilled custard dessert with your family and friends.
Notes
- If custard is too thick, warm up some milk and add 1 tablespoon at a time, whisking continuously until it comes to desired consistency.
- If you like really thick custard, chill the custard and the fruit and mix the fruit into the custard just before serving.

This is exactly how I feel whenever I make custard. This dessert was so upscale and trending in those days. It is trending till now as well though its add-ons have changed a bit.
My favourite any day is fruit custard. Since the girls are not here I make it often. Will try adding dates next time. As for custard powder, I have stopped buying it. I use corn flour, colours and essences.
