What is Paneer Bhurji
Paneer Bhurji Recipe is a quick effortless preparation that tastes so much like the Restaurant or Dhaba style . This is crumbled Indian cottage cheese (paneer) which is sautéed with capsicum, onions, garlic ginger and a wide array of spices. Quick and Easy to make and yet so flavorful and aromatic. This authentic style Paneer bhurji can be metamorphosed into paneer bhurji frankies, paneer quesadillas, paneer wrappers and paneer parathas. With this paneer bhurji video recipe you can prepare and enjoy a delectable paneer bhurji at home with rotis, parathas or naans.
Ingredients
For Measurements refer to the RECIPE CARD further below.
- Paneer/Indian cottage cheese – freshly home made or market bought. Crumble the cottage cheese.
- Onions– chopped
- Tomato – chopped
- Capsicum – chopped
- Cooking oil
- Ginger/garlic – paste of finely chopped
- Boiled fresh green peas (optional)
- Green chilies -chopped
- Spices powders and herbs – turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, salt, garam masala powder, kasuri methi
- Whole spices – cinnamon stick, big cardamom, small cardamoms, cloves
- Garnish – few coriander leaves chopped

How to make Restaurant Style Paneer Bhurji with step by step instructions
Firstly, heat oil in a kadai or pan.
Secondly, add cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon.
Thirdly, add chopped onions and sauté till light brown.
When onions become light brown, add chopped ginger and garlic. Sauté for sometime.
Add chopped green chilis and tomatoes.
Sauté till tomatoes are soft and mushy.
Add turmeric powder, salt, chili powder and coriander powder. Mix.
Then add chopped capsicum and sauté.
Add grated or crumbled paneer.
Sauté till spices are well incorporated into the paneer.
Sprinkle kasuri methi. Mix well.
Add a splash of water.
Finally sprinkle garam masala and some coriander leaves.
Cover and cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
How to serve
Serve hot Paneer Bhurji with Roti, paratha or naan alongside Vegetable Boondi Raita and Mint Lassi or Masala Boondi Buttermilk.
Tips for perfect Paneer Bhurji
The paneer must be fresh
Work on low to medium flame.
Instead of grating, you can even mash with finger tips.
Do not overcook otherwise paneer bhurji will turn tough instead of soft and creamy.

Ingredients
- 250 gm paneer/Indian cottage cheese crumbled
- 2 onions; large chopped
- 1 tomato; medium chopped-
- 1 capsicum, small chopped
- 3 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 tsp ginger chopped
- 1 tsp garlic chopped
- 2 pcs green chilies chopped
- 1/8 cup boiled fresh green peas. optional
- 1/2 cup coriander leaves chopped
Spice powders & dried herbs
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- ½ tsp red chilli powder
- 2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp kasuri methi
- ¼ tsp garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
Whole Spices
- 1/2" pc cinnamon stick
- 1 big cardamom
- 2 small cardamoms
- 3-4 cloves

- Add grated paneer.
- Saute till spices are well incorporated into the paneer.
- Add green peas.
- Sprinkle kasuri methi. Mix well.
- Add a little water.
- Now sprinkle garam masala and some coriander leaves.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 5 minutes.

paneer bhurji is one of the favourites at home for the kids and hubby. Each household has their set style of making this, each of the methods lending to a delish curry / side for Roti / Phulka. I add a dash of milk to finish off and set it for 15 mins and then serve it with hot rotis..
In my house, paneer burji is one of my favourites. Since that creamy delicious bite of paneer works every time for dinner.
