This delightful Apple Coconut Crumble is a very humble crumble dessert that can be enjoyed by itself or paired up with cream or ice cream. It is a very easy dessert to bake. All you need to do for this dessert is assemble the apple and crumble mix in a baking dish. Then, just an hour before serving, bake it. By doing so, the dessert can be enjoyed warm. Ingredients:
FOR APPLE LAYER:
- apples peeled and chopped(green or red apple)
- cinnamon powder
- brown sugar
- water
FOR CRUMBLE:
- plain flour
- oats
- desiccated coconut
- chopped mixed nuts(I used a mix of cashew nuts and walnuts)
- chilled butter
- cinnamon powder
- powdered sugar or castor sugar
How to make Apple and Coconut Crumble:
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
FOR APPLE LAYER:
- Mix the chopped apple, cinnamon powder, brown sugar and water in a saucepan and cook on medium heat for 5 minutes till apples are soft
- Spread a layer of it in an oven proof dish and keep aside
FOR THE CRUMBLE:
To make the crumble mix the plain flour, oats, desiccated coconut , nuts,butter, cinnamon powder and sugar in a bowl.
Spoon the crumble mixture over the apples
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes . Reduce temperature to 160 degrees Celsius for another 10 to 15 minutes till the crumble is golden.
Serve with ice-cream, custard or cream or enjoy it just like that
Tips For Best Crumble:
You can use oats flour instead of plain flour. Some berries could be also added to the saucepan along with the apples.

Your dessert looks delicious. I love Apple crumble and adding oats for the topping is a great idea. I do that too as it’s such a quick dish to make. Apples in UK cook really fast so I don’t precook the apples.

Apple Coconut Crumble looks so inviting. It is my favourite dessert and make it often especially when I have guests over. We all love it with a scoop of ice cream. Love the idea of adding coconut the the crumble layer. Will have to try that out next time.
Yes sure, we do love it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. But in winters we love the warm crumble by itself. Do try it with the coconut.
