Chamomile tea

Despite my love for Karak Chai, I occasionally take herbal tea such as Chamomile tea, Hibiscus Iced Tea or Kadha Indian Herbal Tea to keep me going or for throat discomfort. Fortunately, I get back to normal within a few sips of this tea.

Sit back and relax on a cold winter evening, and enjoy some Chamomile Tea with Dates and Nuts Cake, Eggless Vanilla Choco Chunk muffins or Chocolate Muffins while watching TV or scrolling through your mobile. If you are tired as well, Chamomile tea might help you –

  • Gives you much-needed relief.
  • Easy to make
  • Available in teabags form as well as the dried flower heads
  • No caffeine

What is Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea is a herbal caffeine-free tea and a good alternative to black or green tea. Chamomile is a flowering plant for the daisy Asteraceae family.

The word ‘Chamomile’ comes from the Greek word khamaimēlon,  that implies earth apple – khamai ‘on the ground’ and mēlon ‘apple’. Chamomile tea smells slightly like apple which explains its name in Greek Chamomile meaning Earth apple. (Source: Wikipedia)

Mostly two varieties of this tea are used – Roman Chamomile and German Chamomile. Roman variety has a slight bitter flavor. Whereas German Chamomile is the typical herbal tea with slightly sweet flavor.

Chamomile tea is also known to have remedial effect for some ailments.

Chamomile tea looks refreshing and it definitely helps to rejuvenate. I personally don’t prefer tea but black tea and herbal tea are my favorites. Now I know how to make this tea from scratch.
