Marinara sauce is a sauce made primarily from tomatoes along with onion, garlic, herbs and spices. It can be store bought or use a homemade marinara sauce. If desired you could add any protein of your choice. One can play around this recipe to make it as light as possible or a rich and opulent one for an exclusive occasion. Marinara sauce – use a store bought or homemade marinara sauce

Vegetables – onions slices, bell pepper juliennes, carrot juliennes

How to make Marinara Penne Pasta with Homemade Sauce

(with step by step instructions )

How to cook Penne Pasta

Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add salt to the water. When bubbles arise add the penne and cook, stirring occasionally until al dente – tender but not mushy. Drain the penne over a colander.

Transfer the penne into a wide plate and toss with a bit of oil in order not to stick.

Now add the homemade marinara sauce. Stir fry for a few seconds.

Finally add the penne pasta. Mix everything very gently with a wooden spoon until all the pasta is coated with the sauce and the ingredients are combined.

Tips for perfect Penne Pasta with Marinara Sauce

While boiling pasta, stir at intervals so that the pasta don’t clump together.

You could swap with veggies of your preference. Consider adding zucchini, corn, mushrooms, squash, cheese and other assorted colors bell peppers.

Proteins such as meatballs, cottage cheese, small chunks of cooked chicken is recommended for special occasions.
