Baked Paneer Naan Bombs are stuffed delightful bite size baked treats made from no yeast Indian naan (flatbread) dough. They are filled with a creamy and flavorful Indian cottage cheese stuffing that is baked to perfection . These are a delicious twist to the classic stuffed naan.

Ingredients for Baked Naan Bomb

For Measurements refer to the RECIPE CARD further below.

  • Flour – all-purpose flour and fine semolina
  • Milk – milk powder used in making dough and milk for brushing the naan bombs
  • Leavening agents– baking powder and baking soda
  • Sugar – powdered
  • Yoghurt
  • Oil – any neutral oil
  • Water – for preparing dough
  • Brushing – black sesame seeds for brushing on the naan bombs

  • Onion – finely chopped
  • Cheese – used grated fresh paneer (Indian cottage cheese) and cheddar cheese
  • Tomato – fresh tomato puree
  • Ginger garlic – chopped or paste form
  • Spices powders– cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, salt
  • Whole spices – Cumin seeds for tempering in the stuffing,
  • Bell pepper – chopped
  • Oil

How to make Paneer Naan Bomb

1. In a bowl, all-purpose flour, milk powder, baking powder, baking soda salt, salt and mix. PRO TIPYou can add ½ tbsp of fine semolina to the flour.  

2. Then add yogurt and mix.  

3. Add milk and water gradually and mix it well. Knead into a dough and let it rest for 2-3 hours. PRO TIPAdd water little at a time. Don’t rush to add water in one go!

4. Heat a tablespoon oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and stir well.

5. Add chopped onions and cook for 1-2 minutes. Then add ginger garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes.

6.Thereafter add salt, turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder and stir.

7. Now add fresh tomato puree and saute.

8. Then add chopped bell peppers and paneer and cook for 5-7 minutes.

9. Lastly, add garam masala powder and give a final stir.  Put off flame. Let it cool. Transfer, this into a bowl, add grated processed cheese and mix it well.

10. Line a wide baking pan with parchment paper. Pre heat the oven to 350°F/180°C

11. Make equal size balls from the prepared dough and roll into 3” diameter with the help of rolling pin.

12. Add prepared stuffing in it and shape it into a ball.

13. Place paneer bombs on a lined baking tray. PRO TIPLeave enough gaps between the naan bombs.

14. Brush it with milk and top with black sesame seeds.

15. Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the top changes color.  

16. When done, remove the paneer bombs from oven. Brush the hot naan bombs with butter..

What to serve with

Serve warm with coriander mint chutney, or hot chili garlic sauce, and pineapple mojito. Along side you could serve pasta salad or lemon coriander soup.

Ingredients
  

1 cup =250ml

Naan Dough

  • 150 gm all-purpose flour + some more for dusting
  • 1 tbsp milk powder
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp sugar powder
  • 1/8 cup yoghurt 20 gm
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp milk
  • Water as needed
  • 1 tbsp oil

Paneer Filling

  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 75 gm cottage cheese paneer
  • 2-3 tbsp fresh tomato puree
  • ¼ tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp red chili
  • ½ tsp coriander powder
  • 1/8 tsp garam masala
  • ¼ to ½ tsp salt – adjust
  • 1/8 cup bell peppers chopped
  • ¼ cup grated cheese
  • 1 tbsp Oil

For brushing on naan bombs

  • Milk and black sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Now add fresh tomato puree and sauté.
  • Then add chopped bell peppers and paneer and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  • Lastly, add garam masala powder and give a final stir.
  • Put off flame. Let it cool.
  • Transfer, this into a bowl, add grated processed cheese and mix it well.

Make and bake paneer naan bombs

  • Line a wide baking pan with parchment paper. Pre heat the oven to 350°F/180°C

Wow, what an innovative recipe. I use to make pizza bombs for my kids but have not tried paneer naan bomb. Would definitely make a delicious and unusual party starter dish. Can’t wait to try out the recipe.
