What is Quick Masala Corn Chaat
Masala Corn Chaat is an Indian snack or salad made with sweet corn kernels, onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, chili, fresh herbs, lime juice, salt, pepper and chaat masala powder. Canned corn kernels have been used for making quick corn chaat.
Any Indian street style food or chaat predominantly uses Chaat masala powder which is a popular spice powder. This spice powder is made from tangy and savory Indian spices.

Ingredients
For Measurements refer to the RECIPE CARD further below.
- Corn kernels– Could use fresh boiled corn kernels or kernels from grilled corn. I used canned corn for quick recipe.
- Vegetables– Carrots, tomato, green bell peppers,onions chili, coriander leaves
- Lime juice – For tangy flavors.
- Butter – Canned corn is sauteed in butter for fresh flavors. If boiling fresh corn, omit this step.
- Oil – Just need half a teaspoon of olive oil to add to the oil. Optional
- Dry spices – salt, black pepper powder, red chili powder, chaat masala powder (an Indian mixture of spices powders for tangy savory flavors)
How To Make
1. Firstly, drain the liquids from canned corn.
2. Then, melt butter in a pan. Add the corn and sauté for a minute or two on low to medium flame. Add salt and sauté till the liquids dry. Switch off heat and keep the corn aside
3. After the corn has cooled down, take this corn in a mixing bowl. To the corn, add bell peppers, onions, coriander leaves, green chilies and tomatoes.
4. Then add salt, black pepper, paprika powder, and chaat masala powder.
5. Also add in olive oil and lime juice and toss everything together.
6. Chill for 10 minutes. Serve and enjoy
What to serve with
Serve with soup and sandwich such as Zesty Lemon Coriander Soup and Tricolor Sandwich along with a cup of freshly brewed Kadak Chai or Cardamom Caffe Latte.
Enjoy this corn salad along with Tandoori Whole legs, Chicken Seekh Kebab or Aloo Chana Dal kebab
Variations
You can boil fresh corn and then use its kernels to make this salad
Grilled/ roasted corn kernels would also make an awesome chaat. Add cucumber, raw mango, bell peppers of assorted colors, boiled potato or boiled chickpeas or beans,
Tips for a perfect
- Just before serving give a nice toss to masala corn chaat so that the spices coat the kernels and veggies.
- Chill the salad for at least 10 minutes before serving.
FAQ
Can we use boiled corn kernels or grilled corn kernels
Since this is a quick recipe , so canned corn is used. However, if you have time by your side, you can boil or grill corn and then make this masala corn salad with the corn kernels.
What other vegetables, spices and condiments can go into this salad
Soaked peanuts, chopped cucumber, pomegranate arils, cheese powder or onion powder are some more popular add ons to this salad.
Can it be made into a zero oil masala chaat
Yes,it can definitely be tweaked to make it a zero oil recipe. Do not use butter while sauteing the canned corn. Just lightly heat the corn kernel so that the water from the kernels dries . Also do not make use of olive oil in the chaat.

- 200 gm canned corn
- ¼ cup carrots finely chopped
- ⅛ cup tomato finely chopped.
- ¼ cup green bell peppers finely chopped.
- ⅛ cup onions finely chopped.
- 1 green chili finely chopped.
- Few sprigs coriander leaves finely chopped.
- 1-2 tsp lime juice
- 1 tsp butter
- ½ tsp olive oil optional
Dry spices
- ¼ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp black pepper powder
- ⅙ tsp red chili powder
- ¼ tsp chaat masala powder

Simply love anything with corn. I often make masala corn chaat. Sometimes its simple with chaat masala and lemon juice and sometimes with green chutney. Best ever healthy, filling snack that comes together in a matter of a few minutes.
